This study aimed to analyze the metaphors used by child caregivers to describe childcare. Through the analysis, the concept of childcare was explored, and implications were drawn for childcare services and policies. Data were collected from child caregivers in Mungyeong, Sangju, and Yecheon-gun, Gyoungbuk. The metaphors used were reviewed and grouped by meanings based on the concepts. After the participants¡¯ responses were reviewed in an iterated way, childcare metaphors were conceptually categorized into five themes: (1) joy in life; (2) driving force and guide for life; (3) channel leading to relational formation; (4) social activities; and (5) source of livelihood. This study identified various perceptions of child caregivers regarding childcare. The practical implications for supporting childcare-related projects are discussed to develop an expanded understanding of the experience of caring.
